Seed Germination in Three Days

Success !!

In my last post, I walked you through our sure-fire way of germinating seeds.  Here are the initial results.

The heirloom Mortgage Lifters and the Early Girls are some of the very first to germinate in three days!  Several others have popped their heads out too.

You can see they have already stretched their necks up for light, so these little fella's will head out to the greenhouse where they can get the proper light they need.

I understand that they need at least 12 hours of light to continue to grow.  Have you heard that from anywhere?  I know that our chickens require 12 hours of light to lay their eggs through the winter and that truly works wonders.

I wonder if it's the same for these little plants to keep growing .....

For all of the instructions on our soil-less mixture and the steps we take to guarantee success with seed germination, please follow this LINK.

Please remember, seed germination will depend on how good your seeds are most of all.

  2. I am getting ready to start some of my seeds. After I draw for my seed give away, I may look for a good book to give away!

  3. I don't have a good place for starting seeds and we don't have our greenhouse yet...still on the wishlist. But I get 11-15 eggs a day from my 14 hens! (with the help of a light these days)...:)

  5. nice read! I agree what you have mentioned at the end "Please remember, seed germination will depend on how good your seeds are most of all." . I myself being a first time organic vegetable gardener, found wet paper towel method very effective for me. Have you tried this? i would love to hear your experience if you did. thanks for posting.
    Cheers,
    Endeavor

    1. I don't have any doubt that the wet paper towel method works! I just can't see using it for the amount of plants we grow though. If I have a few seeds of something I want to carefully germinate, I would use the wet paper towel method for sure! Your post on it has great detailed information and I would recommend it especially for those that are gardening on a small scale!

Thank you so much for visiting!!
